Metamorphosis

Sign dates below are approximate. They now overlap by one day. The date and time of the Sun's ingress to the new sign changes a little each year, so please check with an astrologer if you want the exact position of your Sun, and while you're at it, your rising sign -- this horoscope is written for both your Sun and rising signs. If you find that some other sign's interpretations work for you, then go for it.

Aries (March 20-April 21)
Some ask, is it possible to forget the past? I would ask, is it possible to remember it? I think what most of us carry are memories of memories, not the real thing. When we think of "the past" we are usually dealing with an interpretation, perhaps retold and re-remembered several times over, maybe hundreds of times. Yet you are now unusually close to the real thing, the facts behind the fiction, and therefore, reconciling with difficult or disturbing aspects of the past is possible. You don't need to go far; the information you need is coming toward you. The question is, can you use it in a way that frees you from your misperceptions of what has happened to you, even going back to dim and distant years? You can if you want. By seeing the past for what it was, even in glimpses, you will radically alter your view of the present.

Taurus (April 21-May 20)
It is natural to need validation. We cannot proceed for too long feeling different than our surroundings, or carrying a feeling of being isolated or misunderstood inside. The current workings-out of your life, besides, are too intense for that. But I would remind you that validation is primarily emotional, not mental. The words we wrap around feelings are not the feelings themselves, and too many words (or too few) are an indication that the feeling is not there, or is hidden beneath some layers. Yet the whole paradox to this issue is that feeling alien is not a time we feel especially good about being open. But the only way out is through an opening known as vulnerability, and vulnerability is a feeling, not a thought. So if you're seeking validation, I suggest you be with people who can feel what you feel, rather than think what you think.

Gemini (May 20-June 21)
The ever-present struggle between who you are and who you were is building to a peak, yet it shows up as conflict between who you once were, and who you want to be in the future. I think if we're dealing with abstractions in time, one abstraction is quite enough; the past or future should, at least, relate directly to the present rather than to one other. You might call making a refference to present consciousness being anchored in time, and creating a foundation for yourself, or at least a reference point in the constant motion of the universe. We may not think of it today so much any more, but the secret of time holds what may be the key to the prison of existence. Here is a clue: all your becoming of the past has led you to who you are today. Start here, now, and you'll not only go great places: you will go somewhere else, and it's about time.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)
It may have seemed like your stress level of recent months was about the same as everyone else's, but without the rewards. Yet as you may have suspected, a great deal was growing and taking shape in the hidden worlds, ready to emerge into your waking life, and in fact, it still is. We are approaching a total solar eclipse, when the Moon blocks the path of the Sun, followed by the Summer Solstice. These are tremendously important times for you, because by your perception, your efforts and your decisions, you get to look past the obvious, and step beyond consensus reality. What most people don't realize is the extent to which everything they see, feel and believe is tainted by subconscious fear, and lots of it. What you may be recognizing is that your only hope in this life is to be free from fear, and in this quest, rare are such opportunities as you have today.

Leo (July 22-Aug. 22)
It is not time to change directions quite yet -- not for several weeks at least, and, at that moment (you will know when you arrive) a long pause is in order. For now, there's more mystery to be unraveled, and more of the rewards of what you've worked for, available on your current path than you probably recognize. Clearly, doubt is playing a powerful role in your life. My sense is that your deepest struggle is whether there's really a place for you in this world: not just any place, but your special place, where you can bestow your unique talents and gifts on the culture. If that is truly what you seek, hold the commitment in your heart as a conscious act. And remember that if your unique place is what you seek, you will have few direct role models, and few who really know reminding you that while effort brings you far, faith carries you the greater distance.

Virgo (Aug. 22-Sep. 22)
"There is a momentum of goodness. But it takes work. You earn it. And the more you do, the better it gets." Spoken like a champion Virgo, Lynette, and with the action now focussed on your solar 10th house, the house of achievement, honor and one's true calling, making your way in life is the theme of the season. The June 10 eclipse is conjunct Saturn, which some would say is ominous. I see it this way. You know you usually play two roles in life. It's not like you've had a choice in the matter, you can only do what there is to be done. But the way I read the charts, the "two roles" are related, and you've worked both sides of one equation well enough. Your next major step, it would seem, involves working the two sides together, if not entirely, then a lot more than ever before. I offer you a reminder from A Course in Miracles: What has the same purpose is the same.

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23)
What a great relief. I get to think about your life, not mine. While the whole world is busy dealing with the onslaught of reality, you're having divine metaphysical experiences, and transforming yourself brilliantly, and with grace. Okay, and even if you're not, you know it could be worse, and that's good; you know it can be better, and that's awful good; you seem to have some influence in the matter, miracle acknowledged. What happens next, anyway, will more than compensate for any recent complications or sacrifices, if you've viewed them that way. What you have worked out in the past three months clears the way for a series of achievements that are much easier to describe, to see and to feel. But I leave you with one metaphysical project before you get there: please consider carefully everything you know about God, and forget what's not true.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22)
You don't need to wait for weeks to be honest about something you feel today. I see you playing your cards carefully, consciously, as befits involvement with real feelings, and the awareness of how much they matter. Much seems to be at stake, and as the song goes, sometimes the cards are worth a damn if you don't lay 'em down. But you are entering a phase of your life in which clarity is the key note. You need to know where people stand. You are free to ask them, and ask them for updates. And you don't need to reveal yourself until you have a sense that you're being told the truth. But if we're going to share what can rightly be called a mutual reality, then everyone has to bring their reality to the discussion, own it, and work from there.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22)
It would be too easy for you to view what you are receiving from another person, or perhaps from many people, as "mixed signals." The reality is that there are many potentials, and you will have to discern, remember what you want in life, and make choices. At least you can be thankful that you have the freedom to choose, which is a freedom akin to real power. And you have the freedom to choose among actual options. This is a test of maturity. And it's an exercise in creativity that will take you out of your comfort zone. Part of that involves not knowing who someone else is until you discover who they turn out to be. A big part of how that's got to unfold is you're going to encourage them to be real. But stay with the process for a while (two months maybe) because the truth is likely to peel off in several thick layers.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20)
Two of the great challenges in relationship are discerning people from one another, and discerning oneself from the other. It sounds absurd, but I think we can't tell each other apart, and we typically don't know where we end and the other begins. Some of the great metaphysical systems teach thus: there is really no differentiation between self and other, and any other you relate to is just that: an other, having everything in common with every other other. Around this time last year, it was in July, I think, you were confronted with a situation which compelled you to make similar discernments, perhaps requiring you to extract your reality from that of someone else, and what you learned then surely applies today. Remember that the overwhelming urge of the soul is to merge with everyone. Another part of your being wants to differentiate your singular identity. There may be a way to do both, but you need to pay attention, and really, truly trust.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19)
When we create people, things and processes in our lives, we can seem to be owned by them. There is often a beauty to the devotion, and when those people are our children, there is a solemn quality to the commitment because so much seems to ride on it. But within all of these processes, there is room for adjustment. They were created by the creative process, and that process goes on, and can be used to expand the boundaries of what you once knew. Be on the lookout, however, for an obligation you did not know you had and which may be keeping you bound to certain circumstances unnecessarily, and blocking your ability to express your joy. You may have looked at this many times and not seen it. You may have chosen to leave it in place because fear is often easier to abide than freedom. But no longer.

Pisces (Feb. 19-Mar. 20)
Decision is a great moment. Often there is loss or fear of loss, or perhaps it's just an exchange, and yet there is the unparalleled lure of what is beyond. If I said to you that what the past meant is far less important than ever, you might not believe me, and frankly, I barely believe myself. But there comes a time when the past must be the past, and that time is right around now. As that Course in Miracles says, the way you came no longer matters; it can no longer serve. Is that not a great relief? It would seem, at the least, that with any real decision, you get to completely restructure your security base, that which you stand upon and call safety. This does not happen every day, so take your moment. Usually we make decisions based either on what we know or how we feel. Remember, how you feel is what you know.++
